A few lucky users managed to nab an updated version of BlackBerry Messenger last night, and though it seems to have been taken down now, it’ll be going up on App World more permanently later this week. It sounds like most of the improvements are visual, likely to keep up to date with the BlackBerry Torch 9800’s version of Messenger. Pictures in Groups load up more smoothly, contact pictures are bigger, the colour scheme is changed around, and half-finished messages are wiped with the back key (rather than closing the conversation). The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is currently running a slightly older BBM 5.0.1.34, but the 5.0.1.38 update will probably iron out some last minute bugs about in time for the Thursday launch, and bring older devices’ BBM up to date with the new look. The Podcasts app that came with the 9800 was just released to the public, and it’s good to see that trend continued with BBM. Hey, maybe we’ll see Social Networks makes the jump too. Keep on App World for the live BBM update soon.
