Gameloft Takes Gangstar Sequel To Miami in Gangstar: Miami Vindication for iPhone & iPad

It was a year ago when Gameloft released Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, which was obviously inspired by Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series. Well, it looks like Gameloft has once again borrowed inspiration from the Grand Theft Auto series as they announced its follow-up game, Gangstar: Miami Vindication.

Gangstar: Miami Vindication will take place in Vice City… I mean, Miami. The game will be chock full of open-ended environments where you’ll take on a number of different missions which combine action and driving, so you better be good at both. As with Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, you’ll need to fight, shoot, steal cars, and overall perform a number of criminal activities in order to progress through the game. Gameloft is promising to deliver a new level in 3D graphics as the game will be fully optimized to take advantage of the iPhone 4’s Retina Display.

Gameloft also released a trailer showing off Gangstar: Miami Vindication, which is embedded below. The trailer does a good job of showing what we can all expect from the game, although I have to question some of the scenes chosen in the trailer. Some of the vehicle models don’t look very well detailed, and some of the character models lack some detail as well. I know its an open-world game and these kinds of games tend to have a low level of detail in its characters, but I hope the footage in trailer was from a pre-retail build as I can’t imagine the iPhone 4’s Retina Display helping much with such low quality vehicle & character models.

Regardless of that, I enjoyed Gangstar: West Coast Hustle and I’m definitely looking forward to what Gameloft has to offer when Gangstar: Miami Vindication is released, even though it seems like it won’t be one of their better looking games.
