Good news for Cricket as their first Android smartphone is now available for purchase. Sanyo ZIO by Kyocera sports an all-touchscreen form factor with 3.5-inch WVGA display, 3G and WiFi connectivity, GPS, 3.2-megapixel camera, 512MB memory and a microSD memory card slot. Android 1.6 is running the show, but Cricket wowed to upgrade to version 2.1 in the near future (without mentioning when or if Zio will get the Android 2.2 Froyo update, too).
All in all, it’s a great first Android phone for Cricket. The price is $249.99, and inside the box you also get a travel charger, 1GB microSD card and USB cable. The device will be offered with Cricket’s $55 True Rate All-Inclusive Android service plan that includes unlimited nationwide talk, text, email, web browsing, picture mail, Android Market access and international text capabilities.
As for the additional accessories offered with the Sanyo ZIO, Cricket suggests you grab a Bluetooth headset in case you don’t have one already – we see Jabra BT2080, Jabra Extreme and Aliph Jawbone Icon “Thinker” on the list, which are available for $39.99, $69.99 and $99.99, respectively.
