Anyone up in Canada who doesn’t feel like getting the BlackBerry Torch 9800 from Rogers will be able to snag it from Telus at the same price on the same date:  September 24 for $199 on a three-year contract. PR kindly reminded me that they didn’t confirm pricing. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the same ballpark. Jussayin’.

For those unfamiliar, the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has a 5 megapixel camera, portrait-sliding form factor similar to the Palm Pre, HVGA capacitive touchscreeen (don’t worry, no SurePress), 624 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi b/g/n, world roaming HSPA 3G and GPS. The new operating system offers an array of user interface improvements over the old BlackBerry experience, with universal searching being a biggest new feature. I was generally happy with it as far as BlackBerrys go, but in the grand scheme of smartphones, it can seem a little mediocre. Feel free to read up on the BlackBerry Torch 9800 in my review if you’re thinking of grabbing one from Telus later this month. Sign up for e-mail notifications from Telus over here.
