We have spotted the Samsung Gem and the Fascinate the wild before and now the duo for Verizon have made their first side-by-side retail appearance. Page 9 of the September issue of Best Buy’s mobile buyers guide features a double page advertisement for Verizon which includes the Samsung Fascinate and the Samsung Gem. Both handsets are shown off with their Verizon branding and a label indicating they are “Coming Soon”
While the Fascinate is all but confirmed for a September launch, this is the first indication from the retail sector that the Gem may be landing soon. Our previous leak suggested a September launch for both handsets and this guide superficially confirms this prediction. The buyer’s guide also fleshes out some of the details of the Gem and confirms that it is an entry-level Android 2.1 handset with TouchWiz 3.0 and Swype. Available in black, this Android handset from Samsung also includes a 3.2MP camera, GPS, WiFi, and 16GB of storage.
Look for both of these handsets to arrive later this month on Verizon with the Fascinate making its official debut as early as next week. As of August 29th, the Verizon variant or the Galaxy S is reportedly available for pre-order from Best Buy. Anyone interested in this Galaxy S handset or its precious little brother?
