Symbian-powered Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Vivaz Pro just got an improved user interface thanks to Sony Ericsson’s partnership with SPB Software. As you may know, SPB has been working on its SPB Mobile Shell UI for quite some time now, ever since they noticed the user experience on Windows Mobile sucks. In the meantime, they’ve been porting the software to other platforms, including Android and Symbian. And now Sony Ericsson agreed to pre-install SPB Mobile Shell on two of its Vivaz devices.
For those of you who haven’t followed the “SPB story” closely, you should know SPB Mobile Shell brings customizable user interface to touchscreen devices, sporting finger-friendly menus, multiple screens and widgets, integrated weather forecasts and a 3D carousel with some neat visual effects. If you’ve seen SPB Mobile Shell in action, you’ve learned to appreciate it. This is especially true when you compare SPB’s work with S60’s native interface, which is let’s say, not as intuitive…
We’ve no idea which markets this partnership covers, but I’m sure it’s in Sony Ericsson’s best interest to bring SPB Mobile Shell to more users as fast as they can…
