The T-Mobile G2 will be hitting Radio Shack with a lower than low price tag of $149.99 with a two-year customer agreement. The electronics retailer is undercutting Best Buy’s price of $199.99 by offering an extra $50 instant rebate on this Android handset. Radio Shack did not provide details on when this offer will begin and only promised that more information would be coming soon.
Based upon the info provided by Best Buy, I would expect the G2 handset to land at Radio Shack on or near October 6th. The October 6th date is most likely the launch date for this handset as Best Buy is not going to knowingly announce a date that is incorrect. This October date also fits in nicely with T-Mobile’s promise that the G2 would go on pre-order at the end of this month.
The G2 is the successor to the now classic G1 and features a 3.7-inch display, QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera with 720P video, HSPA+ connectivity, and a stock Android 2.2 experience. The G2 includes and 800MHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor that elicited many complaints, but benchmarks suggest it performs better than expected.
Anyone interested in this Google Android handset now that it is available for a $150 price tag?
