Snooth.com updates its wine iPhone app with image recognition technology

It was back in June of last year when we first talked about Snooth.com’s iPhone app for wine lovers. Year and a half later, they’ve released the Pro version with image recognition technology, allowing wine tasters to snap a picture of label to find the wine. The application matches the label to Snooth’s database of over a million wines and once a match is made, you can:

  • View the stores closest to you that have the wine in stock
  • Compare prices and view maps and directions to nearby stores
  • Add the wine to your “Wishlist” or “Virtual Cellar”
  • Purchase the wine online through the Snooth retail network
  • Read expert and user reviews and post your own
  • Browse for similar wines by winery, region or varietal.

Snooth.com touts the new app as the “ultimate mobile tool for finding wine” and somehow we agree with them. Moreover, we (or that’s just me) don’t mind spending 5 bucks on such a useful (or that’s life-saving) app. 😉
