We knew that the upcoming T-Mobile G2 would be available to pre-order from the fourth largest wireless carrier sometime this month, and even with rumors of delay, which are likely true, TMO hasn’t forgotten about their promise. The G2 is now popping up on the T-Mobile site, with a “Pre-ordering starts soon!” along side. Tell us something we don’t know, Magenta.
You can already pre-order the HTC-made smartphone from Best Buy, but many people are likely just waiting for the carrier to offer the device. T-Mobile will also allow you to finance the device, and pay for the G2 over a three month period. With a down payment, of course. Unlike Best Buy, you’ll be able probably be able to pre-order the device over the phone with T-Mobile’s customers service as well. If the upcoming launch of the G2 for T-Mobile coincides with Best Buy’s launch date, we could be seeing the G1 successor hit the shelves on October 10th, if that indeed is the date.
We know that Radio Shack and Costco will also be offering up the G2, and both will sell the device for $150 on a new two-year contract. With the pricing war already underway, I’m really hoping that Magenta will offer it for less than $200 as well, but that’s not likely. With so many retailers planning to sell the device already, it probably won’t be too hard to walk into a store on launch day to pick one up. It’ll be interesting to see how many T-Mobile customers still holding on to G1’s will be upgrading to the G2, as the phone is far from current.
Whenever T-Mobile decides to make the G2 available for pre-ordering, get your mice ready, as this one should be a hit for TMO users.
