AT&T Navigator has just been updated for you iPhone users. Powered by TeleNav, the app’s update is now available in the App Store. If you’ve yet to use the GPS app, you might want to give it a try as it now supports voice or speech recognition. From the app’s home screen, it’s just one touch and you speak out your desired destination and AT&T Navigator will plan out a route for you.

Here are a couple of additional features in AT&T Navigator v.1.7i:

  • Smoother 3D Navigation
  • Lane Assistance
  • Traffic Camera Alerts
  • Background battery saver mode
  • Basic multitasking

Traffic camera alerts are nice for those of you constantly wondering whether you can make that yellow light (but really, you shouldn’t push it for safety’s sake). Curious to get a peek before download, or want to see what’s in the update? Check out the video right below.

From the TeleNav Blog:

Battery Saver Mode
Is there any bigger bummer than finding our your cell phone’s battery has died? With Battery Saver Mode, when you’ve arrive at your destination or have been stationary for a while, this feature will give you peace of mind by turning off your GPS – and helping to save your battery.

Multitasking
Big fan of iOS4? Then without a doubt, multitasking is an important feature to you.

Smoother 3D Animations
In the new version of AT&T Navigator, we’re now using a new “OpenGL” engine that allows us to use higher frame rates, better transition animations, and renders faster when panning in 3D maps! What does that mean for you? A better navigation experience!
