Verizon lands Motorola Droid Pro

Well, Motorola has thrown us a curve ball on the eve of CTIA, as it has introduced the Verizon Droid Pro and it rocks a portrait QWERTY keyboard.

We had heard word about the Droid 2 Pro, which will be a world edition of the phone but the Droid Pro kind of takes us by surprise. It is clearly aimed at the business set with this form factor and it features GSM chips inside for world roaming.

The Motorola Droid 2 for Verizon will feature Android 2.2 and maybe a refined version of MotoBlur. We say maybe because Big Red hasn’t given many details beyond:

Droid Pro is a new, powerful, stronger and faster solution designed to meet both business and personal needs. The first Androidâ„¢-based smartphone optimized for business use, Droid Pro is also a global-ready Android smartphone, allowing customers to enjoy wireless voice service in more than 220 countries and data coverage in more than 200 countries.

No word on pricing or the specs but Motorola is holding an event in about ten minutes so we’ll give you goods as soon as possible.
