Not that we didn’t know the BlackBerry 9670 Style was coming to Sprint or anything, but some promotional materials have landed at retail locations, indicating a launch in the near future. The biggest thing this flyer confirms is the market name: Style. Though there was some contention about the BlackBerry 9670 launching as the Oxford, I think it’s clear at this point that it was nothing more than a codename. The flyer also confirms earlier suspicions that for the immediate future, the Style will be a Sprint exclusive.Verizon should still be getting in on some OS 6 action at very least by way of some OTA upgrades for their existing devices.
The BlackBerry 9670 as we know it will be RIM’s first full-QWERTY flip phone, only slightly resembling the 8220 Pearl Flip. It’ll launch running OS 6, which includes a lot of visual enhancements, universal search, and a WebKit browser, but spec-wise will be very similar to the Torch: HVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G. there’s also the external display, which will provide at-a-glance notifications when the device is closed.
If you’re itching to nab some Style, the BlackBerry 9670 should be landing on Sprint at the end of the month for $99 on contract.
