Verizon has launched a 3G version of its network extender on Tuesday for, well, its 3G customers in areas where coverage may be spotty. Verizon originally launched its network extender back in 2009, but it didn’t support 3G connectivity, which is crucial to smartphone addicts and data hogs.
The new version will allow users to use 3G over their home broadband connections with the network extender. The device will set you back $249.99 but it lets up to six users at once.
Are you still asking yourself what this thing is? Think of it like a little cell phone tower for your house or office. While Verizon has a pretty solid network and good 3G coverage, there are just some places where it doesn’t reach. Maybe you live on a block that doesn’t get reception or your home or office has lead or titanium walls. Stick this little bad boy into your home or office and you’ll be tweeting from your Droid X in no time.
