RIM’s BlackBerry software download page for Wind Mobile is listing the Curve 3G 9300, a phone that has yet to be announced by the upstart Canadian carrier. Unconfirmed rumours are pointing to a launch in the second week of November.
The Curve 3G 9300 is an entry-level BlackBerry that has a 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera without flash, QVGA display, 624 MHz processor, 256 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, and HSPA 3G. Although it currently runs OS 5 (5.0.0.977, to be exact), the 9300 promises to get an upgrade to OS 6 soon, complete with universal search across relevant local and web content, a revamped WebKit browser, and a slew of user interface improvements.
Mobilicity has been offering the same AWS-compatible model for the last couple of weeks, though they don’t have quite the same geographic spread as Wind (at least for now). Of course Rogers, Bell, and Telus also have the BlackBerry Curve 3G, but they don’t have quite the same unlimited plans or fuzzy-wuzzy feeling of living without contracts.
As a lower-end BlackBerry, the 9300 fits as cheaper counterpoint to Wind’s Bold 9700, and when you’re dealing with unsubsidized handsets, cheaper counts for a whole lot. Think you might get one? Take a look at our review of the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300.
