Microsoft is reminding us that sometimes there are sweet perks to working at some places by giving each and every one of its employees a Windows Phone 7 device. The first of these handsets will hit us normal folk in early November from AT&T and T-Mobile shortly after. The latest platform is leaps and bounds beyond what Windows Mobile could have been, so it’s no surprise that the 89,000 employees receiving a Windows Phone 7 handset from their employer has stirred up a little bit of excitement.
GearLog reports:
“I wouldn’t go so far as to say that [every Microsoft employee uses a Windows Mobile handset], Gilbert told Network World. “But a lot of people use Windows phones, prior or current. Everybody’s very excited about the fact that they’re going to get a Windows Phone 7.”
What better way to evangelize your new product than by getting close to 90,000 of them into the streets with your very own employees?
It’s still tough to say whether Windows Phone 7 will be a serious contender to iOS or Android – both of whom have made some solid ground in the smartphone space due to their strength and longevity. Windows Phone 7 will be a new player but it’s certainly not a slouch. Be sure to check out our review of the platform here.
