A couple of months ago, id Software revealed it will be making Rage available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, and iPad. During the reveal, everyone was amazed that the game was able to perform a smooth 60 fps (frames per second) on an iPhone 4. August was the last time we heard any news regarding Rage on iOS, but it looks like we finally have some new tasty details for iOS gamers to munch on.

According to John Carmack, co-founder of id Software, Rage will have two separate titles available for iOS. The first game that will be released later this month is called “Mutant Bash TV.” Mutant Bash TV is based upon a game show in the Rage world that shares the same name. Carmack explains what we should expect from the experience in his blog post on Bethesda’s Blog:

The little slice of RAGE that we decided to build the iPhone product around is “Mutant Bash TV”, a post apocalyptic combat game show in the RAGE wasteland. This is the perfect setup for a quintessential first person shooter game play experience — you pick your targets, aim your shots, time your reloads, dodge the bad guys, and try and make it through to the end of the level with a better score than last time. Beyond basic survival, there are pickups, head shots, and hit streak multipliers to add more options to the gameplay, and there is a broad range of skill levels available from keep-hitting-fire-and-you-should-make-it to almost-impossible.

Mutant Bash TV will be the first id Software title to be sold at the low prices of $.99, with an HD version of the iPhone 4 and iPad selling at $1.99. As for the other Rage title, no details were given yet as to what it could possibly be, except that it will release with the PC & Console versions of Rage on Sept. 13, 2011.

If you STILL haven’t seen Rage running at 60 fps on, then be sure to check out the video below as you’ll see why you should be excited when Mutant Bash TV is released this month.
