I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not much of a Sony Ericsson booster. That said, one of my first real mobile phones was a Sony Ericsson candybar, so I have to give them credit every once and awhile for a new launch. With that in mind, Sony Ericsson has just launched the Vivaz Pro in Canada.
Peter Farmer, head of Marketing for Sony Ericsson North America commented on the launch:
“The Vivaz pro brings together the best of both worlds with a touchscreen interface and full QWERTY keyboard and is perfect for avid textures… Shooting and sharing brilliant HD content is what many consumers want from their mobile devices right now and at a very attractive price, we are putting the power of spontaneous HD in the hands of Canadians with Vivaz pro.”
The device claims to be Canada’s ‘new QWERTY and touchscreen phone with HD’. Ooooh, HD you say!? 🙂 All joking aside, the device does pack some solid features including the ability to record HD videos in 720p. The camera is set at 5.1 megapixels, and features auto focus, plus face and smile detection. The 3.2″ touchscreen display is a true widescreen (16:9) and looks crystal clear. On top of it all, the design of the device itself was said to be ‘inspired by human curvature and created from premium materials’. Nice.
If sharing pictures and videos is important to you, the Vivaz Pro also packs tight YouTube, Facebook and Picasa integration. This makes it easy to upload those quick snaps or vids while you’re on-the-go. Upload and share. It’s that easy.
If the device sounds like a winner to you, Rogers will be the place to go to get your hands on one. It will start at $49.99 on a 3-year contract. While not live (yet) on the Rogers site, look for it to make an appearance real soon.
