Facebook’s official iPhone app is getting an update that will include support for groups, as well as expand the functionality of Places so that you can add pictures to Places and tag friends in your check-in after the fact.
Facebook for iPhone is a social networking application that lets you view status updates from friends, share pictures using the iPhone’s camera, send and receive messages, and “Like” or comment on new feed items. Places in particular is where you can use your phone’s GPS to determine where you are, and share that location with your friends on Facebook. The fact that you can tag friends after they had verified you once was something of a contentious issue. You wouldn’t want a friend checking you in somewhere you actually aren’t, right?
No mention of timeline for this update, but keep an eye out, it could be going live soon! Looks like the update is live! Go git ’em! This update sounds like it’s the footnote of Facebook’s big mobile announcements today, so stay tuned!
