We know that Google Instant is hitting some select Android handsets but we can confirm that it’s now on some Apple iPhone devices too.
How can we confirm this? Well, we have Google Instant on our Apple iPhone right now and it works pretty well. You simply go to Google on your iPhone, start typing your search result and the page auto-populates what you may be searching for. If you’re looking for IntoMobile (and you darn well should be), typing “into” will start to get you there without having to hit enter.
Google Instant was introduced earlier this year and we knew it would be coming to mobile phones in the Fall. In fact, it may be much more useful on the mobile side of things as each additional key you have to hit can be a pain with that smaller screen space.
There’s no word on how much bandwidth this uses in relation to the older version and that may be a little bit of a concern now that many carriers are using tiered data plans. I’m pretty sure the amount of data is very, very small though, so don’t fret too much.
There’s no word on how many Android and iPhone users are receiving the Google Instant beta but it should be rolling out to all users in the not-too-distant future. The search giant used to roll out the cool mobile features to the iOS platform first but I’m fairly certain those days are long gone.
Stay tuned and we’ll have a video up for you shortly, friends. In the meanwhile, let us know what you think of Google Instant on your mobile phone. Is it a time saver or is it just flashy stuff for the sake of being flashy?
Below is a video demo of Instant on the iPhone, as well as some more photos of the service in action:
