Meizu M9 pictures surface – unlocked for $360?

We’ve all been rather patient about the upcoming Meizu M9 and maybe it’s because none of us have the intentions of getting one of the things. That said, the M9 looks to be one of the highest-spec’d Android phones we’ve heard of as of late, while still retaining all that iPhone-clone flavor.

For those who don’t remember the M9, it sports a 3.6 inch 960×640 display, very similar to the iPhone 4’s Retina display. It also comes running on Android 2.2, a 1GHz CPU, 5 megapixel that looks to have no flash, and a HDMI port.

This would mark the first Android handset with a display with such a resolution, and, sadly enough, we’ll likely never see the thing on U.S. shores. The handset will also come with a customized user interface that looks to be rather nice on the eyes and it looks to take a few cues from HTC’s Sense UI.

Last we heard, the M9 would be hitting shelves sometime in October, but that came and went, so we’re still in the dark as to when we may be able to get this thing into our hands. Apple has apparently gotten into the game and it is finally trying to put a stop to the production of the handsets Meizu keep coming out with, but we’re not sure how far they have really gotten as it looks like the M9 is still on its way.

Some of the best news we’ve heard is that the M9 may yours for only $360 unlocked, which is pretty cheap for an unlocked handset these days.

Even if the M9 never hits any shelves, we’re hoping that some big named manufacturers start to take come cues from the specs of this device and the iPhone 4. If there indeed is a Nexus Two or Nexus S about to be announced from Samsung on November 8th, it could meet, or even exceed our expectations, but at this point that all remains wishful thinking.
