Samsung Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi only model delayed until next year

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is set to hit all the major carriers soon, and just in time for the holidays. The Android 2.2 tablet features a 7-inch display, front and rear cameras for stills, video and video-chatting and 3G network connectivity for its respective networks. For those that don’t want network connectivity and paying the extra costs of having a data plan each month, a Wi-Fi-only version of the tablet is also going to be made. However, we’re hearing it’s going to be delayed.

According to some leaked documents from Best Buy, the Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi-only model won’t be making it to stores in time for the holidays. The document says, “Samsung Galaxy Tab WiFi (Post Holiday).” Sad times for all.

Did Samsung put carriers before end user customers? I was planning to buy one of the WiFi only model Galaxy Tabs for Christmas. I hope the report is wrong an they show up in stores before the Holidays.

They most likely did. Carriers have tons of influential power these days, and they nickel and dime end users to the bone. They might as well try to sucker in all the people into contracts and gain new customers, then after the holiday season the wifi only will come out and the people who can’t afford contracts, WON’T pay for contracts, or plan on tethering the devices will go ahead and buy those units. By then though (and this is where the epic fail comes into play), honeycomb will be out (which I urge you to wait for) and amazing new devices will be coming out that honestly are huge cuts above the current ipad and galaxy tab. Dual-core processors running full 1080p with honeycomb (software DESIGNED for tablets) and tegra 2 video cards in them….trust me…it’s about to get really nice :)

I totally agree with olinux. I was gonna buy one for my father for chistmas and one for me, in a Wi-Fi only version. I refuse to pay what I can only assume will be around $30 a month for a tablet that I’ll barely use the 3g capabilities. I guess I’ll be giving my money to apple for his gift this year, unless this is wrong. Sorry Samsung, you lose.

They delay the shipping on the wifi and Samsung definitely fails. Their only chance is to release now before better tablets come along and it is no longer the desired Android tablet. Dumb move Samsung.

Oh say it is not so!! I already returned my iPAD in hopes of getting a WIFI only Galaxy Tab. If they delay till after the holidays I will go back and get the iPad and then Samsung loses.

I already returned my iPad to wait for the Wifi only Galaxy Tab. If Samsung misses the holiday season I will be back at the Apple Store getting another iPad and then Samsung will lose.

Unbelievable! What an absolutely idiotic move by Samsung! I too wanted the wifi only model. Looks like a competitor will get my $$$ apple or maybe the elocity A7

Samsung! Are you nuts!!!?? I’ve been holding out for months for a WiFi only version. I made my daughter wait on buying an ipad in order to get a Galaxy Tab and now you pull this crap?! EPIC FAIL!

i am still holding out until the wifi model comes out. I will never, go back to apple ipad, device. better yet i just might get the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 instead. If Samsung is never going to release this device for wifi only version.
