Good news for the owners of the LG GT540 Optimus smartphone out there. You’ve just been blessed with the Android 2.1 update. Sure it’s not Froyo (Android 2.2), but even Eclair will make your device look cooler and run better.
As you may know, this update [Android 2.1] brings support for multiple accounts, Quick Contacts Interface, HTML5 and Microsoft Exchange support, Live Wallpapers and Bluetooth 2.1. If that sounds good enough for you, proceed to this page to grab the update file and install it on your GT540 as soon as you can. A download is required until LG enables over the air firmware changes.
On the other hand, if you still want Android 2.2 (and you should want it), make sure to send a short email to LG saying just how pissed you are with their lack of support for the latest version of Google’s mobile OS. Such emails can help sometimes (or at least we hope they can)…
