white evo now available at Sprint stores and other national retailers

The Best Buy exclusivity of the white HTC EVO 4G has finally come to an end, folks. Yesterday Sprint announced that the white version of their best Android phone will be available at Sprint  stores, along with many other retail channels.

You still may want to check out your local Best Buy if you’re looking for a white EVO, as Sprint will make you pay a $100 mail-in rebate. The beauty of buying phones at Best Buy Mobile is that if there’s a mail-in rebate involved with phone, they will make it an instant rebate. Just make sure you’re going on a contract with Best Buy, since their off-contract phone prices can be significantly higher than what you’d find at a Sprint store.

While I’m not so sure I’d choose the white version over the black, it’s definitely good news to know that the EVO will be available in multiple colors in more than one place. I’ve yet to see one of these bad boys in the wild, but now there’s a bigger probability that you will now. No matter what the phones does, color does seem to play a big part in smartphone purchases these days, especially for the iPhone crowd. Then again, it’s always nice to have a choice.

We’re wondering if Sprint began to see the sales of the EVO drop, and decided to make the white EVO available in more places, or if that was the plan all along. The handset is still one the most feature-packed smartphones on the market, and another color variant may give potential customers cause to look twice.

Still, the EVO, as good as it still may be, is getting old in the mobile world. HTC is readying some great phones, and once their released, Sprint may need to come out with another color for the EVO if they plan on seeing the sales of the device consistent.

So if you’re on Sprint and held off of the EVO for whatever reason, does the white color option sway you in any way?
