Last week, LEGO released its Creationary app for the iPhone, but that isn’t the only LEGO app to hit the iOS platform. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced it will be bringing its popular LEGO PC and console franchise to iOS soon with LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4.
If you’ve never played a LEGO title in the past 5 or so years, then here’s what you should expect. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 takes players through the Harry Potter films from the first film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” all the way to the most recent “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” The game features characters, locales, and scenes directly from each film with a certain LEGO twist to them. The game doesn’t have any dialog, instead, each LEGO character pantomimes scenes from the movie. Not only that, but the game will also inject a bit of humor whenever it deems necessary which both casual and hardcore Harry Potter fans will understand.
iOS seems like the ideal platform for LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 to be released on as it has a nice mix of casual and hardcore game elements to it. I’m hoping the game does well as I’d love to see other LEGO titles to make their way onto the iOS platform such as the Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones games.
As of now, no release date has been confirmed for the title, but seeing as how Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is being released this weekend, you can bet we’ll be getting our LEGO Harry Potter fix sometime this week. We also don’t know if the game will be a complete port of the PC and console versions which will include the complete game with co-op and all of the unlockables associated with LEGO titles. For now, I guess we just have to sit and wait for the game to hopefully be released later this week.
