Often overlooked, U.S. Cellular is no slouch when it comes to Android handsets. The regional carrier recently introduced the Samsung Mesmerize (a Galaxy S phone) and now it adds the affordable LG Apex to its Android lineup. In addition to the Mesmerize, the LG Apex will join the HTC Desire, Samsung Acclaim, and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab. In December, U.S. Cellular will also introduce the Optimus U as its sixth and final Android offering for 2010.
The Apex is an entry-level Android handset that sports a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with haptic feedback. The side-slider features a full four-row QWERTY keyboard with dedicated number keys and a d-pad for landscape navigation. The Apex also includes a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with flash, camcorder function, and an LG-specific panorama mode that is present on other LG-branded handsets. WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, the suite of Google applications, and Android 2.1. round out the features of this low-priced handset.
The LG Apex will debut November 19th in U.S. Cellular retail stores and online for $79.99 after and $80 mail-in rebate. Full press release is on the next page.
