The Samsung Galaxy Tab is the first major effort to put Android onto a tablet, and has some decent specs to back it up: a 1GHz processor, 7-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen, 512 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, and options for either 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage. It runs Android 2.2, so that means you’ll have mobile hotspot sharing and Flash 10.1 in the WebKit browser.
I’m still a little confused by Bell’s pricing scheme here. They aren’t selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab on a three-year contract like they usually do with handsets, but they’re providing a $50 bill credit if you go postpaid rather than prepaid. If you opt for the latter, it’s $649.95 up-front. It’s a curious approach overall, and I’ll be sure to update this post once Bell gets back to me as to why they’re pricing the Tab in such a different way than their handsets.
Bell plans offer 500 MB for $20 and 5 GB for $35, which you can sign up for in Bell’s online store. If you’re thinking of picking up a Samsung Galaxy Tab, take a look at our hands-on impressions.
