Last time we talked about the Adam, I forgot to mention an interesting little tidbit of information that Notion Ink is displaying on their Adam website. Not too long ago, a binary number appeared on the Notion Ink site, but it was only when we saw it change that we realized this was a countdown of some sort – a countdown which ends on the 9th of December.
So what does this countdown mean? We really don’t know, but many are believing that next week on the 9th, pre-orders for the Adam will begin. But there’s more to it than that. The binary code is obviously a countdown, but there’s another number below it that says the following: -D5720A80. We have no idea what that means, but some geeks took to their drawing boards and put the string into decimal, and then was then thrown into UNIX, which gives the date of June 24, 2083. Since there is a negative symbol next to it, in UNIX, the string turns out to be July 10, 1856. Confused yet? Well, it turns out that date is Nikola Tesla’s birthday. After reading that, I pretty much just gave up and thought that these people were reading into this way too much.
Then, a commenter on a previous post mentioned that the last post also mentioned the movie the Prestige, in which Nikola Tesla plays a big part. What the hell? Does this have anything to do with the mystery feature mentioned in the “Tech Specs” section of the site? The post ends with the following,
I apologize for being little mystic in this post, but I want to point in the future, back to this post and tell you that I shared a secret and hint with all of you, and it all happened in front of your eyes!
So what is it? If it does involve Tesla in any fashion, what kind of feature be related to him? After all, he loved his electricity, but I’d find it hard to believe the Adam will have some sort of wireless charging capability, so either way we’re still in the dark.
Some users decided to look through the source code of the site, only to find a message just for them,
For any sneaky fellows looking through the code, here’s a tidbit for you, there’s a very awesome hidden sensor we’re gonna be revealing soon.
So there’s that. I’m honestly pretty confused, and while this marketing is rather interesting, one of our esteemed IntoMobile editors put it best when I mentioned this whole fiasco, saying, “they should work on getting a product out the door.” I couldn’t agree more, and if some sort of pre-order announcement doesn’t happen on the 9th, I’ll be pretty annoyed. We know that the team over at Notion Ink hopes to get the tablet out to everyone for the holidays, and the 9th would prove to be just enough time.
So the 9th could possibly mean one of two things. One being a pre-order date, and the other is that NI will announce the mystery feature.
Please, Notion Ink, the wait is getting a bit annoying.
