If you’re like me, you like the idea of Windows Phone 7, but still have no intention of giving up your Android phone to make the switch. Thankfully, with a new theme, you can make your Android phone homescreen work and look like the Microsoft MetroUI that is used on WP7. Now you can get a glimpse of what life if like with Windows Phone, even if it’s just an app that looks similar.
The app is called Windows Phone Android, and why wouldn’t it be? From the looks of it, you can probably have a bit of fun with the new UI change. The Android app conspicuously lacks the slick animations found in real deal Windows Phone 7. The arrow on the right hand side of the screen will launch a list of all your applications, and from there you can launch apps, or pin the to the front page. Simple, and straight forward.
As far as the main page goes, there’s not much customization available. You can’t rearrange icons, and you must remove and then re-pin an application to the main page if you want it in a different position. You can change the background color from dark to light, but no choice of any other color outside of black or white. You can also change the icon colors, with blue, green, red, and orange as your options. A decent amount of colors to choose from, but there’s certainly more room for improvement.
Nonetheless, this app may be perfect if you’ve been interested in what Windows Phone offers. Of course, playing with a real Windows Phone will show you what it can really do, but this app will give you a glimpse of what WP7 offers in its full glory. For $2.99, you may want to really think it over before you buy it, but then again, you can always return it if you don’t like it.
