Samsung to move 5 million bada smartphones this year

We may doubt the prospects of the bada platform, but Samsung is one stubborn company and that could be a good thing after all. As a matter of fact, they said the plan to sell 5 million bada-powered devices this year is going just fine.

The first bada smartphone, Samsung Wave, was announced during this year’s Mobile World Congress and started selling at some point in June. The Korean giant subsequently introduced 5 other bada products, including the Wave II, Wave 525 (Wave 2), Wave 533 (Wave 2 Pro), Wave 575 and Wave 723. Of course, the majority of the 5 million figure will come selling the original Wave, but the other 5 will most likely find their spots in the final spreadsheet.

But it’s not just the number of devices sold Samsung is proud of. They also shared their expectations to reach 50 million app downloads from the Samsung Apps this year, which is another impressive figure.

In addition to bada, the company is also engaged in other platforms, including Android and Windows Phone 7. Symbian is no longer on their list, though.
