As hinted by a sneak peek at the box in the fall, Rogers now has the Palm Pre 2 available for $100 on a three-year contract.
The Pre 2 is the first smartphone HP and Palm have made together, but unfortunately it’s not quite that much of an upgrade from the Pre Plus. However, we never got the Pre Plus in Canada, so this is really long overdue. Specs-wise, the Palm Pre 2 bumps up the processor to 1 GHz, and the camera to 5 megapixels, plus runs an updated version of webOS that is Flash-capable and handles multitasking in a new way. The hardware layout is mostly unchanged, except for the that the front screen is now made from glass rather than easily-scratched plastic.
We’ll be getting one of these soon for review, likely up sometime early in the New Year (before CES, if you’re lucky). If you’re already sold on the Palm Pre 2, you can find it hanging out in the Rogers online store. If you’re in the U.S., expect the Pre 2 to land on Verizon at some point soon.
