Patriot iPhone app helps you fight terrorism

This isn’t exactly a brand new app but I stumbled upon the PatriotApp and felt I could help spread some Christmas cheer by helping you all fight those dirty terrorists with nothing more than your iPhone or iPod touch.

Unfortunately, the Patriot iPhone app doesn’t turn your iOS device into a rocket launcher but it does integrate with the FBI, EPA, CDC and other governmental agencies to let citizens report suspicious activities.

According to the Patriot iPhone app description:

This app was founded on the belief that citizens can provide the most sophisticated and broad network of eyes and ears necessary to prevent terrorism, crime, environmental negligence, or other malicious behavior.
Simply download, report (including optional pictures and GPS) and submit information to relevant government agencies, employers, or publish incident data to social network tools.

Along with terrorists, you can use the Patriot iPhone app to report product safety news, environmental issues, government waste, pandemics, and blow the whistle on companies or corrupt agencies.

While researching this app, a reviewer questioned why Apple approved this Patriot iPhone app because, “This is only feeding into paranoia and will only cause pain.” He’s also a bit miffed because his burping app wasn’t approved. Tough shit, I say to that developer, as Apple has said it doesn’t need more fart apps and I’m guessing that applies to burping too.

While I generally don’t agree politically with companies or people who constantly refer to themselves as “patriots,” I believe this is a smart use of mobile technology. What do you think, friends?

You can download the free app here (iTunes link).
