Through the years, Apple products have gotten some fancy treatment from third-parties. We’ve seen gold-plated iPhones, diamond-encrusted iPods and sparkly iPads. This time we’re looking at a Gresso iPad, complete with 200-year-old African Blackwood and 18k gold. It used to be that running around with a fancy iPad was enough to induce envy from your friends–having them call you a dirtbag behind your back. But now that everyone has one – hell it’s Oprah’s top favorite thing this year – how else would you stand out?
While it hasn’t been announced, expect it to be a bit pricey. Gresso also customizes the iPhone 4 with the same type of wood and gold treatment. Now, I’m not a woodworking professional, but I’d imagine that heat and humidity would be the enemy of the Gresso-designed iPad. I suppose you could keep it in your walk-in humidor whenever you go and enjoy one of your cigars.
One thing is certain – this thing would be easier to hold than the slippery, aluminum backing on the iPad. It might even be a little lighter, too. Anyone know the weight of African Blackwood by volume?
