They say necessity is the mother of all invention, and I’d be hard-pressed to think of a greater necessity than to stay immobile and comfortable on the couch while remaining adequately refreshed with ice cold beer. In that spirit, one enterprising couch potato has modded his mini-fridge to dispense one of four different beers, which are then aimed using a rotating platform and mounted webcam, and fired at 50 psi from an air cannon to the parched target. How does mobile fit in? It’s all controlled using an iPhone. You can see the live preview of the webcam in a Safari page, and even make the fridge temperature hotter or colder. And why not make the whole thing social? The webcam automatically records each firing and shares it to a dedicated twitter account, though it seems Untappd would be an even better choice.
I can’t help but think that this is some clever viral marketing considering how much Bud this guy has in his fridge, but even if it is, damn is it cool. The creator says he’s planning to get crosshairs implemented soon so he doesn’t lose another lamp, and that the creation of PersonalBeerRobot 2.0 means this original may be up for sale at some point…
Here’s a video of the magnificent piece of technology in action.
