HP Palm has issued a casting call for some upcoming commercials showing off the Broadway, Manta, and Topaz devices. As far as we can gather, the Topaz will be Palm’s first
webOS tablet, and the Mantaray and Broadway names had been dug up in the in the webOS 2.0 code. Though the Braodway is probably the Pixi 2, we’re still somewhat in the dark about the Manta; maybe it has something to do with the 5-inch Mansion.
What caught my attention about the position descriptions wasn’t the codenames, but the kind of actors they were looking. Besides the “sofisticated” way the marketing agency spells, the fact that they specifically didn’t want any corporate types seems to that Palm isn’t even going to try to approach the enterprise market until after they’ve gained some ground with the help of HP. They still may be trying to nab some low-hanging fruit in small and medium businesses since they’re also looking for “CLASSY, PROFESSIONAL TYPES WHO OWN THEIR OWN BUSINESS. THEY ARE NOT WALL STREET TYPES BUT MORE HIP, GOOD LOOKING, SMART, STYLISH PEOPLE.” Remember kids, capslock is cruise control for awesome.
Anyway, any particular webOS products you’re looking forward to, maybe looking like one of the mock-ups above?? I think it’s kind of funny that RIM will basically have a PalmPad out before Palm does.
