Samsung has updated its Bada SDK with support for in-app advertising, allowing mobile app developers to monetize their work by displaying ads. And here’s a trick – Samsung is not taking its cut, leaving 100% of the ad revenue to the developer!
Before you go “WOW, that’s cool!” it’s fair to point few things:
- Bada is still relatively young platform with only about 5 million phones out there.
- That said, I’m not sure advertisers are rushing-in to include yet another platform to the mix.
In other words, although that sounds great I don’t expect the ad fill rate to be anything close to what other mobile ad networks are delivering, except if Samsung doesn’t hire sales force to find potential clients. And since that costs money, I doubt that will happen under these conditions.
Finally, in addition to in-app ads, the new SDK also bundles some sort of a debugger to check potential errors that could occur during packaging of the app…
