You may recall my post from the other day detailing how the folks at Semi Secret Software went open source with Canabalt for iOS. The game has long been one of my favorites, and Semi Secret is doing good with it. The source for the game is now free for all to use (good on ’em). On top of that, they’ve even raised a whackload of money (around $30k) for charity over the holiday season.
That’s probably why, when I noticed that Canabalt was updated in the App Store, I took notice.
In the latest update for Canabalt (for iPhone and iPad), a number of enhancements were built-in. For the first time, true retina display support is now available… so when you’re playing the game on your iPhone 4 you’ll get some very crisp graphics whizzing by at 60 frames per second. On top of that, Game Center integration is now on board, along with the usual mix of performance tweaks and upgrades. Yes, Canabalt has truly never been better.
To install the update simply pop open the updates tab in the App Store if you already own the title. If not, you can hit up the download link below and purchase the game for a buck. A small price to pay for endless hours of side-scrolling frustration and tension. 😛
