A video search company VideoSurf will offer a visual search app on latest Verizon smartphones. The application which works like Shazam for video allows users to identify a video they’re watching. Just point your phone at the screen and VideoSurf will do its magic, identifying the episode, find it online and provide you with the ability to share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter.

According to The Nielsen Company’s research note released in December 2010, more Americans are watching video on their mobile devices than ever before. On a year-to-year basis, the number of people watching mobile video increased more than 43% to nearly 22 million in Q2 2010, while the amount of time spent watching mobile video was up almost 7%.

Finally, to see VideoSurf in action, you can either visit their booth at CES or check out a short demo video below. And when you’re done watching, search for “videsurf” in the Android Market and take it from there. ;)
