It was the CES time and we’ve almost missed that the iPhone version of the popular augmented reality browser Layar has been updated. Version 4.0 is readily available for the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 users, packing several new capabilities, including:
- Gyroscope support – an iPhone 4-only thing that will see objects moving across the screen in closer sync with your motions, creating a “much smoother experience” and taking Augmented Reality “another step towards the blending of the digital and real world.”
- Updated interface for the Camera View, which now has an Info button and a button to switch between Camera, List and Map Views. Clicking the Info button provides more information about that layer and there are also options to add it to your favorites, view layer options, switch to Bird’s Eye View or calibrate the horizon.
- Multi-tasking support – making sure your place in Layar doesn’t get lost when you’re switching between the apps.
And that’s it. If you still don’t have Layar installed on your iPhone, make sure to do that now. There’s a link below this post. 😉
