Mercedes-Benz USA will be launching a new mbrace service in early 2011. Developed by Hughes Telematics, the updated mobile app will come with few new features, including the ability to send destinations to your Mercedes-Benz in-vehicle navigation system, effectively extending remote access beyond map websites.
Also included in the mix is a function called Drive2Friend, which enables customers to connect and navigate to people from their Phone book. Moreover, an update to the mbrace Mobile Application will provide options for customers to search and send points of interest, directly enter an address, send contacts from their contact book as well as send current location all from the palm of their hands.
The original features of the mbrace app remain on place, enabling Mercedes-Benz car owners to lock and unlock their doors remotely and find their vehicle if they’ve completely forgotten where it is parked. Sounds nice, but is it worth about $280 for 6 months of mbrace membership? You be the judge. iPhone app is free to download, though…
