After iPhone and Symbian, ABBYY is bringing its Business Card Reader app to the Android users. Just like their app for other platforms, the Android application also allows users to transfer contact information from paper business cards into their phone’s address book. Moreover, there are some advanced features included as well, like the ability to search across social networks such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook directly from within the application. Then there’s the option to look up a new address captured from a business card with Google Maps, without requiring it to be saved in the mobile address book.
ABBYY Business Card Reader for Android can read text in nineteen languages including popular European languages such as English, German, French, Italian and Russian. In other words, in can work both with unilingual and multilingual business cards.
Finally, in addition to the full paid version, ABBYY is also offering a free lite version that allows users to capture data on a business card, preview the results on a phone’s display, and search for additional information on Facebook. It will transfer the contact’s first name, last name and first detected phone number, while the rest of the contact data can be saved into the address book by upgrading to the full version.
