Orange UK will be launching a new cheap phone for heavy texters. The Alcatel OT-355 won’t impress many with its feature set, but will definitely make texting and instant messaging easier for on-the-go folks.
The device lacks 3G connectivity, so you won’t get fast web browsing speeds. On the other hand, you shouldn’t expect much more from a 50 GBP PAYG (Pay As You Go) phone.
Aside from the mentioned keyboard, the OT-355 also comes with a VGA camera, FM radio with RDS, music player and a microSD expansion slot (works with memory cards of up to 4GB). Its battery provides enough power to keep the handset running for up to 9 hours in talk and up to 7 days in standby mode.
And that’s about it. As I said at the beginning of this post, we’re talking about a basic device that won’t excite many, but for some it will be just what they need for 50 pounds…
