Australia might have to wait until April to get the LG Optimus 2X, the world’s first dual-core smartphone, but it looks like Denmark will be getting theirs on February 25, with preorders starting today. Expansys recently started offering Optimus 2X preorders to the UK as well, though they’re expecting it to ship on March 21. Those in the U.S. can expect it on T-Mobile around the same time.
The Optimus 2X promises to be quite the beast, running Android 2.2 on a 4-inch WVGA display, an 8 megapixel camera capable of capturing 1080p HD videos which can be shunted out to a TV through HDMI-out. Of course, the big star of the show is the dual-core Tegra 2 1 GHz processor, which allows the whole thing to run with buttery smoothness. Be sure to check out our hands-on with the LG Optimus 2X for a closer look.
With hardware and international reach like this, it seems entirely possible that LG will meet their goal of selling four times as many smartphones as they did last year. Any Danes in the house can sign up to grab the LG Optimus 2X for 3,599 Kr at Ellos. I do worry that the significant language barriers in Denmark will result in people unwittingly signing multi-year contracts, though…
