Apple unveiled a new advertisement that features both the AT&T and the Verizon iPhone 4 with the tag line “Two is better than one.” The ad presents the AT&T iPhone 4 side-by-side with the Verizon version while both handsets browse the Internet, make a Facetime call and more. Both iPhone 4 variants perform similarly and there is no perceived difference between the two carrier networks.

This rosy picture differs greatly from the tech world and its journalists who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Verizon iPhone 4 so they can finally compare the two networks using Apple’s popular smartphone. It also paint a different picture than the one painted by Verizon in its “There’s a map for that” series of advertisements that pointed out the deficiencies of AT&T’s 3G network.

This latest ad from Apple comes hot on the heels of a Verizon advertisement for the iPhone 4. Rather than take a combative tone against AT&T or a competing platform like Android, Verizon chose to produce a commercial that focused on time and the patience of Verizon’s customers as they waited for the iPhone 4 finally to arrive. Both advertisements highlight the advantages of the iOS platform rather than the sticky issue of CDMA versus GSM technology . While may some may prefer the maximum overdrive tone of the DROID commercials, these ads are light-hearted and, in my opinion, a refreshing change from the antagonistic ads of the past. Both advertisements are presented below for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
