Has there ever been a phone that has gathered so much media attention simply for its color? Here we go with the white iPhone 4 all over again. There have been numerous reports that the mystical ivory device is popping up in inventory systems everywhere. Does this mean it’s really coming soon?
While the reasons for its delay have been unclear, rumors say that Apple couldn’t get the results it was looking for in terms of color and color matching. Was the white paint causing light leaks? Did the casing not match the home button? Who knows. The only thing Apple would ever say is that there have been manufacturing issues that caused the delay.
However, a new rumor suggests that Apple has partnered with a Japanese company to create a materials for a white iPhone 4 that meets the Cupertino-based company’s stringent standards. The new material is said to be easier to work with and allows Apple to get just the right amount of paint on there so that the devices wouldn’t be considered defective units later.
Who would have thought that making a phone would be so difficult because you decided to go with a particular color? Of course, it would probably be easier if the iPhone 4 was made of plastic or had a soft touch coating. It seems that those materials can come in just about any color you can imagine. But when you’re working with materials and a design that’s very unique, I suppose these minor details can grow into big ones.
Will we see the white version of the Apple smartphone soon? It’s really hard to say, but if we did, is it worth picking one up knowing that the next generation iPhone is just a few short months away? It depends on just how much you love the device and how much you need it to be white.
