We had caught a glimpse of the OtterBox case for RIM’s first tablet, the BlackBerry PlayBook, but a crisp render of the full product has slipped out, and it looks pretty sweet. This is the Defender Series, which is Otterbox’s toughest lineup, consisting of a hard plastic frame, a rubber exterior, and a plastic screen to cover dust and light splashes.
Although OtterBox focuses mostly on cases for phones, they’ve gotten their feet wet with tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the iPad. Both are also Defender Series cases, though there is a slimmer Commuter Series for the iPad, plus a cool harness system coming soon; one can only hope that the PlayBook will get similar treatment eventually.
Pricing wasn’t revealed, but given the Galaxy Tab is about the same size and its case is going for $69.95, so that should give you a rough ballpark. If that’s too pricey for you, there will no doubt be a bevvy of options when the tablet launches sometime in March, considering RIM’s new accessory partner program.
