MacRumors got hold of an email sent out to Verizon corporate customers that details the pre-order process for the Verizon iPhone. When the iOS handset was announced, Verizon confirmed that its customers would be able to pre-order the Apple smartphone starting February 3rd, one full week before its public launch on February 10th. Thanks to this leaked email we can now fill in some of the blanks for Verizon customers looking to ditch their current handset and snag a CDMA iPhone 4.
Starting on February 3rd at 3:00 a.m., Verizon customers will be able to log into their My Verizon account and order the iPhone 4 as either an upgrade or a new line added to their account. The leaked email hints that the pre-order inventory of the popular Apple smartphone will be limited. Once this allotment is sold out, Verizon customers will have to buy an iPhone 4 on the official launch date of February 10th.
Verizon is also reportedly accepting iPhones in a new trade-in program for AT&T customers. AT&T customers switching to the Verizon variant can bring in their current model and turn it in for credit. The prices for the trade-in devices is as follows:
- iPhone 2G – 16GB: $60
- iPhone 3G – 16GB: $105
- iPhone 3Gs 32GB: $160
- iPhone 4- 16GB: $280
- iPhone 4 – 32GB: $360
While you could do better in a private sale on Craigslist or eBay, it may be an one-step way to get a credit for your AT&T iPhone and sign up for Verizon at the same time. Before you get your hopes up, this trade-in information is obtained from the same leaked corporate email that yielded the pre-order information above. It is possible that this trade-in program is not for the public, but is a special offer for Verizon’s corporate customers.
