HP teases webOS tablet

We all know that HP will show off a webOS tablet Feb. 9 and the company has just posted a brief teaser video to fan our excitement flames.

The brief (9 seconds) video just shows a few renders of the sides of what should be the HP webOS tablet and it doesn’t really reveal much but it does include some pretty pictures.

Earlier leaks indicate that the HP webOS tablet will come in multiple screen sizes. We’d expect at least a 1 GHz processor and we’re holding out hope for dual-core processors.

It’s almost a given that it will have a camera on the back and a front-facing one for video calls. The Palm platform which powered the Pre always looked like it could scale up to a larger screen.

When details leaked to the web, the company immediately sent out another teaser suggesting that we haven’t seen anything yet. More rumors suggest that this will be the tip of the spear for a major cloud storage for consumers initiative. Basically, HP could use the cloud management services it already offers for enterprise users and bring that to average users – imagine putting all your music, document and app data in the cloud and having access to it no matter what (webOS) device you’re using. This could be a compelling feature of the HP webOS tablet.

The IntoMobile will be at the HP webOS tablet event next week and the company has promised that whatever it shows off will be shipping in a few weeks, so you won’t have to wait too long to get this in your hands.

Will we also be seeing new Palm smartphones? We can’t say anything with certainty yet but it’s clear that HP wants to build an ecosystem around this operating system, so smartphones would be natural. Heck, we’ve even seen evidence that webOS may power a netbook in the future.
