Oh hey, look, Microsoft has decided to include copy and paste in the latest update to Windows Phone 7 developer tools. It’s nice that the software maker took cues from Apple before launching its brand-spankin’ new platform, but why it didn’t include copy and paste from the beginning is beyond me. And yet here it is making the news.
Brandon Watson, director of Windows Phone 7, gave the following details to PPCGeeks.com:
- The Chevron WP7 Unlocker team was NOT paid for their services, and are being kept in contact (Unofficially) to help get input for the devs
- The update coming out late Thursday or Early Friday will be involving a new OS image, which will include Copy Paste Assistance for developers, and hints to a OS update in the coming month. We assume by the end of Feb. Early March
- All apps on the market WILL get Copy and Paste, WITHOUT any updates made by the developer
- The new OS Image will include compatibility for CDMA, and CDMA is promised by the end of Quarter 2 of 2011.
- The OS is looking to grab more devs in general and help them get back on track and interested in WP7’s software
Developers certainly jumped on the new tools as Watson says that they have been downloaded more than one million times. Look for big things coming up, Windows Phone 7 fans, as the software updates roll out and the Marketplace continues to expand. Additionally, the notable absence of WP7 from Sprint and Verizon may be a thing of the past as the new OS image apparently includes CDMA compatibility. We just might see CDMA WP7 devices by late spring or early summer.
