CardStar’s mobile loyalty app has been updated to integrate with Groupon, bringing all those lovely Groupon savings (estimated at $1 billion) to CardStar’s 1.3 million iPhone users. Once your CardStar app is updated, you will be able to access deals offered by both national and local retailers in more than 160 cities.

With this Groupon integration, local businesses and merchants get another touch point to reach shoppers in their area. Consumers on their end get to access additional deals which are outside of traditional retailer rewards programs.

I like it. Actually – I LOVE Groupon! What they’ve accomplished is astonishing, having turned coupon-hating people like me into Groupon fans and evangelists. Bringing a piece of paper to a store or restaurant to get some percent off is not my cup of tea – paying less in advance makes more sense and is way more convenient.

Back to CardStar – it was launched in January 2009 and it’s the most popular mobile loyalty application in the world, used in all 50 U.S. states and more than 180 countries worldwide.
