ALK Technologies announced a new version of its popular GPS navigation app (it calls it a “platform”) for smartphones and tablets. CoPilot Live 9 rocks a brand new user interface with context-sensitive menus, “cutting-edge routing technology” and access to local content.
Among the key features included in this release, we find:
- Optimal routes – CoPilot Live 9 will provide users with a choice of up to 3 routes including journey time and mileage details.
- Enhanced live services like ActiveTraffic for traffic flow information and Bing local internet search for finding nearby businesses. Additionally, there are also millions of points of interest pre-loaded with the app.
- Social navigation – enables users to share journey details with friends through Facebook Places check-ins and in-app Twitter updates.
- Different views – including 3D, 2D and directions-only. There are also Lane Assist arrows and realistic ClearTurn display for navigating complex junctions, as well as an all-new walking mode.
In addition, CoPilot Live 9 also comes with “Park my Car” capability, Trip Statistics, Photo Navigation, live weather information and fuel prices (premium option), and in-app news and updates.
CoPilot Live 9 platform will be available in the second quarter through Android Market and Apple’s AppStore. The company will also offer the product as a white label solution for other brands to launch fully-customized GPS navigation apps.
